Founding Manufacturing Engineer

geCKo Materials is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team. This role requires an individual capable of developing innovative solutions to complex problems and will involve significant research, design, and prototyping work. It will also include building automated systems from the ground up in order to scale our novel technology while we continuously optimize and improve our manufacturing procedures and diversify our product mix. This position is a fit for an engineer who enjoys robotics and automation, and is also capable of conducting the hands-on work of fully carrying concepts from ideation to realization since there will be a requirement to develop custom tooling, fixtures, and machinery for use on the manufacturing line. This is an “impact job,” meaning there will be ample opportunity to effect changes and see the results. We seek an individual who is creative, ambitious, well-versed in a variety of engineering skills, but is especially passionate about manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and implement continuous process improvements to existing manufacturing operations

  • Provide daily direct manufacturing support to troubleshoot and resolve issues and document solutions following GMP

  • Build products to meet customer demands

  • Design, build, and implement manufacturing automation machines and processes

  • Create standardized methods and procedures to improve manufacturing line efficiency–to include internally published work instructions, SOPs, and R&D reports

  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations to improve manufacturing throughput

  • Identify the root causes of manufacturing related issues and perform corrective and preventive action using established problem solving methods

  • Prototype and test new tooling, fixtures, methods, automated systems, and production concepts

  • Maintain detailed records of manufacturing operations

  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills for on-time delivery of assignments

  • Take ownership of and manage projects as assigned

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Mechatronics: controls, system integration, automation

  • Programming: C++, Python, MATLAB, etc.

  • Experience with CAD/CAM/FEA software

  • Prototyping, to include tools such as mill/lathe, laser cutter, 3D printer, etc

  • Proficient in operating a CNC mill

  • Solid foundational knowledge of GMP

  • Proficient in creating, reviewing, and editing of relevant technical documents

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Minimum lifting requirement of 20 lbs.

Typical Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering related discipline and 3 years of related experience or Master's Degree with 2 years of related experience.
